Let’s explore the work of Rhiannon Giddens, from opera to Appalachian folk music back to opera. Trained as a classical opera singer, Rhiannon Giddens changed directions and co-founded the Carolina Chocolate Drops, a traditional folk group, along with pursuing a solo recording career. She returned to opera as composer of a new American opera. In addition, she has been an actor, a TV commentator and writer. In this course, we will learn about her life and sample her incredibly wide-ranging body of work.
