When I put data in the cloud, what does that mean? Where is the cloud? Is my data secure? Can I get my data back from the cloud? Who else can see it? Who pays for the cloud? It’s a story about how the modern computing world deals with resources like internet restrictions, limits on computing power and data storage limits owned by one group. QR codes have taken over all kinds of advertising and information transfer. This story starts with the question of how price tags disappeared from grocery items. Their replacement, the bar code, allowed computers to replace people in taking inventory and changing prices. THEN the ubiquity of the smart phone and cheap fast data storage led to the QR codes that are everywhere. These are examples of technology feeding on itself to create something new . . . with human help.
