All of us have memories of growing up - happy ones, sad ones, and regretful ones. Young folk are usually portrayed in movies either as bothersome addenda to the adult stars, as comic relief. And yet, there is a whole genre of films that take young people, and the painful process of growing into adulthood seriously, even if there are comedic episodes along the way. The films in this course will explore the various stages of becoming an adult, the oddities that arise, and the joys of finding one’s self along the way. Students will view the film on their own prior to each class and be prepared to discuss it during the Zoom class. Streaming outlets will be supplied as part of the schedule of movies.
