Despite the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s high profile and frequent presence in popular culture, there are currently fewer than 14,000 FBI special agents -the highest number ever. Few people therefore have the opportunity to meet a current or retired agent and hear what the job actually entails. This class will afford participants the occasion to learn from a retired female special agent what the hiring process is like, the training new agents receive, the types of casework the FBI handles, and how the Bureau conducts its investigations. Overviews of several high-profile public corruption cases and methamphetamine trafficking investigations will be presented. There will also be time for Q & A. This course is expanded from a previous offering with additional investigation synopses and training of other law enforcement officers in crime scene investigation best practices.
