Where Wisdom Meets Humor: Murphy’s And Other’s Laws (Edward Zuckerman) NEW
ID :
5782
« back to classes page
You know that "If something can’t possibly go wrong, it will," Parkinson’s Law that "The amount of work expands to fill the time available," and the Peter Principle: "In a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to their level of incompetence." Of course, there are hundreds more that condense the wisdom learned the hard way by engineers, authors, and humorists about relationships, politics and economics, careers and work, and just life. These aphorisms, often pessimistic, bring a wry smile of recognition of their condensed wisdom. We will enjoy dozens for their philosophical humor and then explore how the wisdom in each can be applied to our relationships, work, and culture. Expect some laughs and a lot of smiles of recognition. You are encouraged to share the "Laws" that you use to guide your life and make sense of what you observe going on around you.
