Taking Stock Of Generative AI (Ashique KhudaBukhsh)

« back to classes page
When ChatGPT burst onto the scene, the world quickly took notice. Machines that could talk opened the door to a fascinating future—soon they weren’t just conversing, but also generating audio, video, art, and even code. Early on, we learned about major challenges such as hallucinations, but three years later we now see both remarkable progress and subtler concerns. From sycophancy to other uniquely human-like failure modes, generative AI continues to surprise us in ways that differ from traditional technology. Meanwhile, a global race—from DeepSeek to other emerging players—reshapes the landscape at breakneck speed. This course takes stock of where we are now, what has changed since those early days, and where this transformative technology might be heading.
