Whether you’re an experienced fiction writer or just wanting to give it a try, this course is designed to help you hone your skills while having fun writing short pieces of fiction that let your imagination run wild! Each week, participants will be assigned a prompt to write a story based on specific perimeters, including a strict word count. We’ll be focusing on word choice, as tight writing is essential in flash fiction. Authentic dialogue will be another subject we’ll explore. The following week, we’ll share our stories, receive light critique, and discuss various aspects of the writing. For the first session, please bring a compelling first paragraph of a short story or novel you read that you couldn’t put down once you read those first several lines. We’ll be discussing hooks.
