From the late 19th century until the end of WWI, Antarctica was the focus of international and scientific exploration. Among the explorers was Ernest Shackleton, an Ireland-born explorer who led three British expeditions to Antarctica. This class will focus on his life and the ill-fated Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1917 aboard his ship the Endurance.
