The first Nobel Prizes were awarded 125 years ago in 1901. Since then prizes have been awarded to 1,026 laureates - 930 men, 68 women, and 28 organizations. This one-session class will cover: the creation of the prize by Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite; how the laureates are chosen; the medal, the diploma, and the monetary award; the award ceremonies; deserving and un-deserving laureates; snubs; and past and present controversies.
