Architect Raymond Viner Hall is an under-appreciated mid-century architect who lived and worked along the upper Allegheny River in Port Alleghany, PA. His father, Walter J. Hall, served as builder and chief stonemason of Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece. It should not surprise us that Wright’s influence is evident in Raymond’s designs. Archivist Lynn Kawaratani is welcoming us to visit CMU Architectural Archives at Hunt Library to see examples of his drawings and documents from Hall’s career. Additionally, Wright site researcher and Hall enthusiast Fred Zelt will share insights into Raymond Viner Hall’s design ethos and construction methods that produced a very impressive body of work in the Western Pennsylvania region.
