Architect Benno Janssen is among Pittsburgh’s most influential and prolific architects. Beaux Arts trained Janssen was a master of styles enabling him to design beautiful buildings in any setting, always appropriate to its use. Archivist Lynn Kawaratani is welcoming us to visit CMU Architectural Archives at Hunt Library to see examples of his drawings and documents from his career. A retrospective of Benno’s life will showcase a range of buildings he designed and will allow you to appreciate his influence on our city and how he reflected the times he lived in. Insight into his design process and the expanse of his stylistic legacy will allow you to appreciate his dedication and perfection of his architectural talent.
